intelliSTOR distinguishes itself by streamlining the process of gaining access not only to the reports themselves, but also to the data within those reports - the report becomes the database. Everything intelliSTOR does begins with the print streams of reports. Instead of, or in addition to, sending the print streams to a printer, the print streams are sent to intelliSTOR's server.

intelliSTOR is able to interpret the print stream formats and report formats including the computed values available only in reports, through its patented patternmaker technology, providing access, archive, and analysis of electronic reports. It allows reports to be ingested in their native print format (ASCII, EBCDIC, AFP and Metacode), where a report store is created and the report streams are archived for legal compliance and, "patterned", which makes the data available for query and analysis WITHOUT shredding reports or extracting report data to create a new database.

intelliSTOR Advanced Server's patterning technology is employed so that no relational database is required to store the data. This approach provides significant performance and long-term storage benefits when compared to populating and maintaining a relational database with report content.
