Database monitoring and administration tools require "in-the-database" agents, traces or monitors that consume up to 30% of database resources. Because of this significant resource consumption, these tools are limited to snapshot or sampling methods of capturing system level data. Teleran’s network-based Access Architecture is the foundation for iSight's continuous usage profiling and management without degrading database or application performance. Unlike resource consuming database monitors, iSight does not require the installation of any performance degrading agents or processes.

iSight logs queries and usage statistics to a published set of reporting and analysis tables - the InfoUse™ Knowledge Base - that can reside on any of the leading relational database systems. InfoUse contains a wealth of usage metadata that includes the complete, parsed SQL statement, result set statistics, application name, user ID, IP address, and all database objects accessed, among other things.
