Archer Build in COSO and COBiT

Archer Technologies Announces Support for Leading Standards

Archer Technologies Teams with Leading Financial Services Companies in Mapping CobiT and COSO to Archer Policy and Control Standard Library

Overland Park, KS (Feb. 15, 2005) — Archer Technologies (Archer), a recognized leader in delivering enterprise security solutions, announced today that it has teamed with leading financial services companies to map additional industry standards, CobiT and COSO, to its Policy and Control Standard library. These references will be made available in March of 2005.

The current Archer library includes references to ISO/IEC 17799:2000(E), FFIEC Information Security Booklet, GLBA, Information Security Forum Standards of Good Practice, Data Protection Act of 1998, The Basel Accord, HIPPA and the EU Privacy Directive.

The BITS-certified Archer Policy Management solution, which includes the Archer library, is licensed by over 20 of the top 30 financial services companies in the United States, in addition to numerous other Fortune 1000 organizations. This library of standards is used to aid companies in demonstrating due diligence to the regulatory requirements that govern them, with a specific emphasis on complying with the 2002 Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

CobiT, issued by the IT Governance Institute under the name of Control Objectives for Information and related Technology, was developed as a generally applicable standard for good information technology security and control practices. CobiT provides a reference framework for management, users, internal audit and security practitioners.

COSO, issued originally in 1985 and enhanced in September of 2004 by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission, was developed to help companies assess and enhance their internal control systems and to evaluate and improve their enterprise risk management functions.

“CobiT and COSO are being used by many US-based companies to help comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 requirements,” said Jon Darbyshire, CEO of Archer Technologies. “We have teamed with many of the leading financial services companies to review the CobiT and COSO standards and provide mappings to existing Archer standards that will aid in demonstrating due diligence. In addition to the mappings, Archer is providing self-assessment checklists that can be used by organizations to validate their compliance in specific areas.”
