Risk consultancy Protiviti is to open an office in Amsterdam. The new site joins others in the UK, Italy and France. Protiviti centres on providing consultancy for internal audit, business risk and technology risk. Increase regulatory requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley and Basel II have been a boom for the firm. European firms are having to prepare themselves imminent arrival of Sarbanes-Oxley if they have a listing in the U.S. Furthermore governments in the EU are thought to be preparing similar legislation to SOX. The Dutch unit will be headed by Carl Messemaeckers and Carolina Wielinga. Both are experienced risk proffessionals. Messmaeckers although having an engineering background, specialises in qualitative and quantitative risk management and internal audit. Sarbanes-Oxley and the Dutch Corporate Governance Code are two regulatory areas he has advised companies on. Wielinga is an accountant. Her specialties are delivering finance- and accounting related services, risk management and internal audit.
